    3. Getting defensive are you you must be one of the same old fucking nominees.. you can keep a little fan club nomination. Just realize it’s not based on actual talent because there’s a lot more talent around Lexington and the surrounding areas then what’s nominated?

  8. How do you vote don’t see anywhere to vote

  9. This thing is more of a joke every year. Where to start? A venue in Richmond getting nominated for best venue (I can give that one a pass I guess). Another venue with a "stage" in a corner that hosts open mic nights. Two bands nominated in metal that do mostly covers and aren't even metal with one of those also being nominated in rock. Another band nominated in metal who is almost exclusively a cover band who played all of two shows in Lexington this year and the biggest venues they played were... checks notes... Malibu Pub and a bowling alley in Richmond. Also a band each in Pop and rock also being nominated in the cover band category. There's so much more better original music in this town and it's a shame cover bands are getting nominated in categories. It's also sad to see some of these same names pop up in categories every year that have no reason being on this list. Most of the people in the music industry in this town think your awards show is a joke and even some of the legit nominees think it's a joke. Lexington has way more to offer in music than giving out awards to your friends in your little club.

  10. What a f**king joke. These “awards” are just a popularity contest and have nothing to do with talent or musical creativity. If the powers that be , don’t know the name of the nominees, then they automatically get pulled regardless of how many times the name comes in. We have done a test on this very thing two years in a row. We have submitted over 100 nomination forms with the exact same names on them and not one name was listed to be voted on.

  11. Fucking Joke. Same people same venues same DJ’s same everything. Fuck this “who you know” shit. Most of those acts are shit and their music

  12. Whose dick do you have to suck to get into this club? You all pick almost the same shitty people and bands every fucking year.

  13. While the original intention of the awards was positive, it needs a different structure, and different oversight. Not to take away from anyone who is nominated, as I think the negative comments about the nominees are unkind and unnecessary, I do feel the same individuals are nominated, and win, repeatedly. The nomination and voting process is flawed, and I do agree there is a “who’s who” of Lexington feel to this program. What started out as a well-intentioned way to acknowledge the stellar musicians and artists in the Lexington music community, has turned into something that is no longer being taken seriously by the majority who are familiar with the awards, and that does include some of the nominees who are on the list every year. I hope someone can assist and figure out a better, more equitable, unbiased way to accomplish the original intention. Good luck to all nominated!

  14. Just another “CLIQUE” high school kind of shit. KEEP YOUR AWARDS AND SHOVE THEM UP YOUR ASS !!

  15. I do agree that if you are nominated for cover/variety act you shouldn’t be in a specific category.

  16. Colton Hulett from Taylor Road here. Sad to see this much hate in here.

You know what? Yeah there are some metal bands I would’ve liked to see nominated. Do we have any control over that? No. Would we be upset if we didn’t get nominated? Fuck no. Please get over yourselves. It’s not that deep.

    1. F**k off!!! Get over yourself… easy to say when you’re nominated every year it’s a shit show lmao

    3. Keep talking your shit as Anonymous, you're a coward and would not dare say shit to anyone's face. At least Colton had the balls to put his identity out there. If you're getting this butthurt about the nominees, its probably because whatever band you're in/backing fucking sucks.

    4. My name is Mike Smith. I don’t care bout this anonymous shit. I’ve heard his band. They are pretty good. Great… I guess that a matter of interpretation lol. So what’s your name since you want to call out names “anonymous” mouthful. Or are u part of the bandit kiss ass nominees?

  17. Sounds like a bunch of butt hurt haters to me. There are a lot of great people and bands that were nominated. How do you know they are all shit? Have you been out and listened to all of them? I seriously doubt it!

    1. Great????? You must be a gf /bf mommy or daddy of one of the nominees. Let’s bet next year 3/4 of the same s**ty nominees will be nominated again next year. You’ve obviously haven’t been out there to hear a lot of greater bands…. “🥱

  18. Sounds like you’re one of those same bands/acts/ etc who are just “meh”. You can keep your crap “awards” gtfooh…

  20. These awards were put in place through a lot of hard work to celebrate local musicians in our community and done with a good heart and an open mind, over the years suggestions were always received well . When new categories were suggested they were put in place.
It’s impossible to fault the ceremony when it’s the fans when dictate who the nominees are. If people don’t nominate or vote then of course the band won’t get on the list. Most people these days aren’t die hard fans, don’t go see shows every weekend, don’t share that band when the do see them, and if the audience is weak then of course they aren’t going to take time out to go though nominating a band they seen a couple times. Now you end up with only a few true fans nominating, limiting the choices to vote for. The awards people have no control over what the public chooses to do so they have to roll with what they are given and continue the show.
There are some fantastic bands that never get this honor simply because the people don’t take the time to lift them up.
Honestly the only answer I see to this is that a couple of un biased people go watch all the bands in a specific category over the summer and then do their own nominations , then allow the public to vote. Because clearly the public cannot be counted on to nominate.
I just think it’s pretty bad that someone works their butt off to open up a celebration of music and gets dumped on .
If you want changes you have to be proactive.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Well said. It's up the band to reach out and promote this. No one is going to do it for them. It's just like booking a gig, you can't rely on the venue to promote the band and it's members have to do it as well.

      Delete
    2. well, that sounds all good and all that sounds all well and good but I know for a fact that one of the bands that I nominated had 150 other people that nominated as well or sit in the nomination on the website so that’s kind of bullshit. And they are a kick ass band so you can’t tell me that peoples votes don’t count

      Delete
    3. you can’t be proactive if they already know who they’re going to nominate for these awards there’s no way in hell. The same bands can be nominated every year or same DJs or same venus or same vocalist so they’re not taking the vote seriously they already know who they’re gonna put in Those award slots It’s all just a farce.

      Delete
    4. Ain’t much of a “Celebration” if it’s the same people every year. As someone above said you have to be in their “Clique” or “club” to get nominated cause it’s not the public nominating. And they should be “dumped” on if it’s a celebration amongst themselves every year with the same people. Sounds like a public ego trip. I guarantee you they didn’t look up or look at any other submissions. I know for a fact some of the nominees are friends with other nominees who can influence their friends who run this award to get nominated. So it’s all in who you know.

      Delete
  21. We are on this list. Didn't make it last year but did the year before. They don't know us at all, so I disagree and you would have to know how many votes was cast. It's all about promoting.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Still sounds like you’re part of the select few if the “clique” then. Whether it’s every year or every other year. I guarantee you the same 3/4 nominations will be the same next year as they are every year. Promoting has nothing to do with it as all bands and acts do a lot of promoting. So don’t give us the “whoa is me” we didn’t make it last year but we did the yr before and this year….Dont worry Im sure you’ll be on it again next year or the following year. lol

      Delete
  22. This shit ain't no big deal to me, but I do know for a fact that the "fan base" for one of the bands in the "Pop" category is mostly just bot accounts that were paid for. The listens/streams were paid for. Not to mention the members are always... every single year... Under "Best Vocalist" and "best drummer". Now why is that? Everyone SHOULD know who I'm talking about, especially after they embarresed themselves on local television. Ask ERICA BIVENS from ABC36 WTVQ. If you know .. you know.

    1. FACTS!!!! The ones doing the awards know who they are gonna put on that nomination list even before voting begins. They think it’s “Prestgious” but is a JOKE….

      Delete
    2. You mean this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neeqbOA-hl4 Legitimate artists in Lexington should be furious that this is the kind of stuff being spotlighted by the awards.

      Delete
    3. Omg what the fuck is that shit????? All these bands on that list suck. Obviously the “awards people” didn’t do their research on these bands. You go from bands with screamer shit to this shit….They must not have went to their facebook or any other “submissions lol” to check out better acts. What a fucking joke. Maybe those who didn’t get nominated might have dodged a bullet being associated with those funny Lex Awards.

  23. I’m so glad we have so many crybabies on here. Brave behind a keyboard but won’t do a damn thing, like get up off your ass and make a change or do something. Stop bitching online like fucking cowards.
Your points are lame, for example ‘I know of 150 people,’ sure you do. But do you know how many people voted on these polls? No you don’t. Or, ‘It’s the same bands every year,’ it’s called a following, people like them, so there’s got to be a reason they keep making it on the list, it’s called talent. It doesn’t matter they do covers or not.
I’ll be honest, if not for the reminders my favorite local band puts out every year, I wouldn’t remember to vote. So have all you whiners voted or bitching just because you forgot and your bands aren’t in there?
You asshats are what’s wrong nowadays. There is enough hate and negativity in this world, so please get off your high horse, STFU, and realize this is just a competition, not life or death. All these people are doing something they love, they are good at it and bring happiness to people. You can, not like the results but being a nasty asshole about it isn’t necessary. They all deserve congratulations no matter what. It doesn’t cost you anything to be nice. Especially since you’re commenting anonymously.

    1. Oh Angela. I agree with the pissed off statements. You must be one of the nominees. I do personally know 50 people who actually voted. Whose cock are you sucking in one of these “talented” bands. Look back at the last few years. it’s the same lane ass people. So shut the f***k and get back to sucking their cocks you asswipe. There are tons of bands that do promote this award but get overlooked because it’s a “friends friends of who’s who” and who can kiss the awards people’s ass the most. And don’t you think those other bands deserve recognition for what they “love” to do? joh and btw my name is Jeff Learson so I’m not hiding behind shit to tell you F**ck off.

“Talent” is well you know subjective and the awards people do not know talent if they are picking the same lame ass people every year so yeah. People have a right to be pissed off…And the reason why they are posting anonymous because they know asswipes like yourself would retaliate against their band and get them blackballed. So go back to being a c**ksucking groupie…

  24. The metal/rock categories are a big joke. Over half of each selected group are literally cover bands (and from out of town…). I’m not sure how the voting process works, who votes, or how to nominate artists; but more attention to detail might be necessary to make this whole thing far less of a joke than it is. Cover groups should only be nominated once and in their select category. More categories need included. Perhaps ‘alternative rock,’ and ‘indie rock,’ should be added to give more depth in selection (there seems to be a huge lean on boomer heavy nostalgia cover band schlock). I have nothing really against cover bands (they make da munnies), but if you REALLY want to showcase the creativity of Lexington, this thing, and how it’s put together is most certainly not the way.

    1. Those country groups are the same. they are good musicians but together they are just a bar band no originality at all except trying to sound like other Brooks and Dunn copycat.

  25. This is the kind of shit being nominated as someone else stated above. Rags to Riches lmfao!!!

    What a fucking Joke!!!!

  26. I voted for my friend Alicia New, she's recorded songs with Colter Walls bass player Jason and my husband and I are big fans. Several other friends said they nominated her too, but I guess it wasn't enough to count. I probably won't bother in the future after reading these comments!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Again a year later… What a fucking joke…

    ReplyDelete
  28. WTH No one I voted for even made it SMDH... Why bother if they don't really count?! Seems fishy to me. Especially reading the comments, damn.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Somethings terribly wrong here. Only one of my nominees made it, and upon checking out some of the people nominated GTFOH. It's absolute amateur hour lol A couple real working artists and the rest must be in the "In club".

    ReplyDelete
  30. THEY TOOK ER JIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. WTF???
Doesn’t these awards people listen to who they chose to nominate. NONE of them are any good. I went to everyone one of their websites and Facebook pages. WTF???? There are hundreds of better bands and musicians and DJ’s around that are better than what’s on that “Popularity” Contest. C’mon you can do better. I know there were a lot more acts voted through the website. This is total bullshit. And everyone is right… Going back and looking at the winners the past few years it’s basically the same fucking names on it.

If you’re gonna keep doing this why open your site for voting when you obviously don’t check out the other entrees. Just keep nominating your kiss ass buddies or close it down. What a fucking joke.
I say FUCK this FAKE Awards Scam.
